A builder developing a new Cottage Grove subdivision hired us to pour the public sidewalk along the street and an individual driveway for each home. The sidewalk was poured 5 feet wide and 4 inches thick, thickened to 6 inches at every driveway crossing, with tooled joints every 5 feet and a broom finish for traction in the rain. Each driveway was poured at 5 inches thick with rebar over compacted crushed rock, and pitched toward the street so runoff never sits against a garage door. We scheduled the pours house by house around the builder’s crews so landscaping could go in right behind us.

This Cottage Grove property needed a garage floor that could handle two vehicles, a workshop, and a full wall of storage. We poured a smooth-trowel slab over a vapor barrier so ground moisture can’t come up through the floor during the wet months, and sloped it gently toward the doors so rain tracked in on tires drains out instead of pooling. Control joints were saw-cut into large, even panels to keep any cracking in straight lines. The smooth finish makes it easy to sweep and roll a floor jack across.

This older Cottage Grove home had a gravel driveway that turned to mud every winter, but the owners didn’t want a full slab covering the front yard. We poured a ribbon driveway, two concrete wheel strips with a planted center, curving in a loop to the carport, plus a matching front walk to the porch. The open center lets rain soak into the ground instead of running off, which matters in a town that sees this much rain, and the strips stay solid underfoot all winter. It used far less concrete than a full driveway, which kept the cost down.
